Special Winter Storm Information
Please find information regarding snow removal, public safety concerns, and government suggestions for dealing with this on going winter storm from both Fairfax County and Alexandria City. In addition to the information from Alexandria and Fairfax, please find below tips for weathering this storm.
Tips for dealing with the Storm:
- Shovel early and often.
- If your power goes out, please report it to
- Dominion at 888-667-3000 or NOVEC at 703-335-0500.
- Refrain from calling 911 or other emergency services unless there is a true emergency or life-threatening condition. The Alexandria Police Department’s non-emergency main phone number is 703-838-4444.
- In Fairfax call 703-817-7771 for information.
- Clear snow away from fire hydrants.
- Before you leave town, fill your gas tank. While traveling, frequently refill the gas tank.
- Check 511Virginia.org for road conditions
- If you are out on foot, cross the street at marked crosswalks and intersections ONLY.
- When walking your dog, do not let them off the leash as they may get lost or suffer from cold-weather related problems.
